Children and youth at risk are the focus of our annual Pentecost Offering. With the disruptions in our society caused by Covid-19, young people can be especially vulnerable. This offering is an opportunity for us to support some important programs designed specifically to help them become responsible adults.
A full 40% of our contributions will stay right here in Reno to support the work of Eddy House, where homeless young people, ages 12-24, find a safe place to stay while they get their lives in order. Along with the basic necessities of shelter and meals, Eddy House provides a comprehensive variety of services, enabling these young people to complete their education, get job training, and become independent.
The other 60% of this offering goes to support the youth ministries of the Presbyterian Church (USA), including Young Adult Volunteers (twelve month terms of service), the Youth Triennium, and programs to address the needs of children at risk. All of these help nurture the faith of those who are the church to come.
Pentecost is celebrated on May 31, and this offering will be received through the month of June. Contributions to the Pentecost Offering can be added on to your regular offering or sent in separately to the church office. Please give generously to support these worthwhile programs.
